About Us

Liquid Gas Ireland (LGI) is the national representative body for companies involved in Ireland’s liquid gas industry.

Our members include suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and service providers. LGI promotes the use of both conventional liquid gas (LPG) and renewable alternatives, such as BioLPG and renewable dimethyl ether (rDME), as clean, flexible, and lower carbon energy solutions for homes, businesses, industries, and farms, particularly in rural areas that are not connected to the natural gas grid.

LGI represents its members in all relevant policy, regulatory and stakeholder engagement to shape and contribute to policy goals related to the decarbonisation of heat, transport and industry. LGI also takes a leading role in safety, setting high standards for the safe, progressive development and use of LPG and BioLPG.

Liquid Gas Ireland is committed to working with consumers, stakeholders and policymakers to support Ireland’s goal to tackle air quality, drive decarbonisation and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Liquid Gas Ireland is a member of Liquid Gas Europe.

Senior Director of Government Affairs and Policy

Alan Farrell is Senior Director of Government Affairs and Policy at Liquid Gas Ireland, where he leads the organisation’s advocacy as the sector advances towards a fully renewable liquid gas future. He champions the role of LPG and BioLPG as clean, flexible, lower carbon energy solutions for homes and businesses beyond the natural gas grid.

As Chair of the Public Affairs Working Group, Alan works closely with policymakers, industry stakeholders and partners to ensure informed, balanced decision-making that supports innovation, sustainability and regulatory certainty. His work focuses on positioning renewable liquid gases as a practical and scalable pathway in Ireland’s transition to a low carbon economy.
